Providing emergency pharmacists in rural and remote areas
Pharmacies provide an essential service to Australians, and in some cases mean the difference between life and death.
In 2002 we won the national tender to provide emergency locums to rural Australia at times of personal tragedy or medical emergency. We have continued to do so until the present time, with a 100% success rate in filling these emergencies, often with 24 hours’ notice.
When we took on this role, we received two emergency calls per month. Now we receive as many as three every week — and we’ve never let anyone down.
We are extremely proud of our track record in providing emergency pharmacists to rural and remote areas around Australia.
Emergency Relief Service
The ELS is an initiative of the Rural Pharmacy Workforce Program (RPWP), which aims to support pharmacies in rural and remote areas through direct access to pharmacist locums in urgent emergency situations.
We understand that sudden illness, injury and personal tragedies can mean that you are unable to operate your pharmacy unless you find a locum pharmacist.
The ELS is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. If you need an emergency locum, contact us on 1800 357 001 and we will find an emergency pharmacist for you. We have a national database of qualified and experienced on-call pharmacists with which our dedicated team can match you.
We can also fund the travel costs of the emergency locum up to a value of $2,500.
